Disney On Ice: Princesses and Heroes

One of D’s obsessions is ice skating, he has loved it since watching the Olympics in 2010. It is not a constant obsession, but one that is resurrected with the cold weather as winter enters. He has a partner most of the time, Pouty enjoys ice skating on the wood floors with socks as well.

Another one is to check the local shows available through Ticket Master or other ticket sales websites. Unfortunately, this one results in many meltdowns because we cannot afford to attend most shows. They are pricey, consider there are six of us, and they are not likely to happen, ever.

Earlier this year, D was searching for local shows when he found Disney on Ice. And then, the commercials and billboards started showing up…and then, the begging…oh my word, the relentless begging.

What an awesome surprise when a friend sent a group text message that said, Disney on Ice tickets for $x.xx, anyone interested? I sent Chad a text message immediately and asked if he was interested, and we were then the proud owners of 6 tickets for the show.

When I got sick, even after being discharged from the hospital, I was in and out of the ER several times. One of those times, my mom came down to help and we let her take Spike and Samoo back to NC with her. When they left, I didn’t think far enough ahead to realize that they would be gone on Thanksgiving…meaning they were also gone the night of the Disney on Ice show!

The guilt was almost too much, I tried to sell the tickets on Facebook, but finally, at the last minute, I decided, Ya know, they got to go on a trip and have fun and excitement. The two kids who are left here should, too. We did have two extra tickets, and we asked friends of Spike and Pouty to join us.

Pouty and one friend…not sure how we missed out on getting a picture of the other friend. 🙁

I was a bit nervous about D being the only boy with Pouty and the two friends, but it really didn’t seem to phase him. In fact, the kids had a great time! All four of them!

Possibly my favorite picture of D in nearly 3 years!

I was really excited about how much fun they had. I’m so grateful to my sweet friend who was able to get us the tickets for such a great price. Her thoughtfulness gave me a wonderful, early Christmas gift.

She blessed Chad and me with an exciting opportunity to join four children, who are beautiful on the inside and out, for a night of wishes that came true. She gave me the chance to see huge smiles and hear sweet giggles from all four of them.

Thank you so much, my dear friend, for remembering us when you were able to get the tickets!! I am so blessed by that!

Also, thank you so much to the mom and dad of the girls’ friends. I appreciate you letting them join us for a night of fun and Disney Princess dreaming!
