2 years ago at this time, I was more likely than not, in Virginia. I was visiting D in a residential treatment facility.
My Son, My Hero
My little boy was in desperate need of more help than we could give him for his aggression, inability to handle being in crowds, and inability to process the emotions of other people, and more. This, after being in and out of the hospital for stabilization 3 or 4 times in a 2.5 month time frame.
It was such a rough and terrifying time, but I kept praying and knew that God was taking care of it, every minute of it…when the times seemed too dark and too heavy to even breathe…God was there.
Today, we drove 2 hours to the busiest mall we have ever been to. We know it’s a busy place, but we needed a change of scenery. We also had something we needed to do there, besides visiting the Bass Pro Shop.
Two things about Bass Pro Shop: 1) That place is awesome! 2) The squirrels didn’t seem the least bit phased by all of the animals who had, at some time in the past, paid a visit to the taxidermist!
We stayed there for about 3 hours, walking and window shopping. We left and got a quick bite to eat before going to Ikea and staying there another 1.5 hours.
Quick note about Ikea: 1) That play place was so crowded! Didn’t leave my kids. 2) All of those beds fed D’s desire for a new bed (he has no need for a new bed, he has perfectly good bunkbeds!) 3) Anything you can imagine, and more, for your home is in that store!
When that was done, we left and drove the 2 hours home.
I am wiped slam out!
There was some sibling stuff, but overall we had one of the best days as a family that we have ever had. And quite honestly, D seemed to be much less frustrated with the crowds than Chad or I either one were!!
This kid is AMAZING!!! Totally my hero! I am so, so blessed to be his Mama!!!!
