A New Hope

If you are fans of the blog’s Facebook page, or you are friends of mine on Facebook, you know that we have decided it is time to homeschool D. On the application for the homeschool association we have decided to use, we had to give our Homeschool a name. I thought about this, but could not find the right name until someone said, “Use something to do with Star Wars.” YES, but I was looking for something that would be both Christian and Star Wars based. I also wanted something that would reflect the whole family, not just D.

After talking with that friend, I decided to reconnect with my old friend, Google.

Me: (types in Hey, Google! Long time no see! Have a minute to help me out?
Google: <blank search bar>
Me: Really, Google, I’m looking for “Star Wars and The Bible” (typing in Star Wars and The Bible)
Google: <working his magic and scouring the entire internet just for me>
Google: Here, dear Lena, is your list of thousands of links to things dealing with Star Wars and The Bible. The first 20 or so are relevant, the next several thousand are view at your own risk.
Me: Oh, thank you! I’ll start looking through them now! (I looked through several and couldn’t find just the right thing).
Google: You are so welcome, come back any time!

What I did end up finding was a website that has Bible verses that are similar to quotes from the Star Wars movies. Using this Bible verse and quote, I chose the name of our home school.

…And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

–Matthew 28:20

The Force will be with you. Always.

–Obi-Wan Kenobi, “A New Hope”
The ultimate force, the force of God, the love and strength of God, will be with us always. Matthew 28:20 says, “even unto the end of the world” God will be with us. Knowing that God will be with us always, we have “A New Hope” that God will guide all of us through this new venture of homeschooling.
A New Hope Academy
Where the Force of God will be with you. Always.

  1. Oh, I love the name! It's just perfect- brings tears to my eyes! I will keep you in my prayers as you start this new journey. Any time you want to talk about homeschooling- I am here! We are in our fifth year! (:

  2. Thank you both! I am praying that we are doing this homeschool thing right. I know that with God's lead, we are doing right by David, even if we are not doing the homeschool thing perfectly yet.

Leslie, I do have a couple of questions you might can help me with. I'll send you a message on FB.
